This program is designed to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of various aspects of computer science, including software engineering skills. The course aims to provide students with knowledge, understanding, skills, and experience sought after by employers and industry experts in the field of Computer Science.You will be introduced to a range of Computer Science topics that will explore key concepts and techniques relating to this dynamic field of study and provide you with an understanding of software engineering skills. These include the use of systems software to manage business systems, various industry-standard programming languages and the ability to combine existing ways of working with new ones to provide the required output. These skills are expanded throughout your degree to support you working confidently independently and as part of a team in complex, unfamiliar contexts. This will involve gathering and evaluating different types of information, identifying problems, developing and documenting solutions and making effective use of technology to generate transformative solutions. Study style Integrated foundation year You’ll learn in our purpose-built School of Computing and Technology. This includes a dedicated research lab; purpose-built break-out areas for workshop sessions; games consoles and screens in social areas; and the latest computing technology and software. You’ll use tools and operating systems such as Android, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Drones, Photoshop, Microsoft, Oracle and Cisco. With the aim of building your individual portfolio, you’ll mainly be assessed by coursework and technical projects. This includes building your own robots, writing software to break secret codes, predicting share prices and designing intelligent search engines.
