Overview

They say a picture can speak a thousand words – learn the skills to help your pictures tell the most important stories, in print and online, on our new BA (Hons) Photo and Digital Journalism degree at UCA Farnham. The role of the photojournalist has always been crucial but never more so in today’s world, where news is instant through social media. On this course you’ll learn how important it is to capture a moment in time in the right way, how to get to the heart of an issue through your pictures – and how to bring those images to audiences around the world. The course is designed for people excited by using photography and digital tools to tell stories. Digital tools include creating quizzes, photo galleries, maps, charts, graphs, timelines, podcasts and social media posts. From the get-go, it is a hands-on course: you will be encouraged to find exciting people with interesting stories and to tell them in your own unique way. You will be taught to produce photo and digital journalism for different platforms, including apps, websites, podcasts and social media, and to find your own distinctive areas of specialism within a field such as culture, the environment, music, fashion, sport, politics or equality and human rights.
