Overview

In the Bachelor of Integrated Studies (BIS), students can create a flexible, multidisciplinary program suited to their educational and career goals. To complete their program, students develop and demonstrate core competencies highly desired in the workforce, such as effective communications and the use of data. Prior learning and professional experience can be used, by assessment, to meet one or more of the competencies. In their program, students choose between completing a specialty as part of a Theme or minor, or completing a general option. The Bachelor of Integrated Studies — UFV's most customizable degree program — lets students choose from over 100 courses from various disciplines and programs, so they can earn an undergraduate degree tailored to their personal career and academic needs. As part of the program, students draw on a mixture of in-class and online learning opportunities, field-based courses, and professional learning experiences to achieve competency in six core areas: Effective communications, Scientific literacy, Digital, Use and analysis of numerical information, Intercultural engagement, Professional and applied skills.
