Immigration to Canada has driven up the number of Canadians who speak a language other than English and French at home, according to a recent Statistics Canada study. Specifically, the growth was seen in speakers of Malayalam (+129% to 35,000 people), Hindi, (+66% to 92,000 people), Punjabi (+49% to 520,000) and Gujarati (+43% to 92,000).
