The University of Plymouth is a public university that was established in 1862 as a polytechnic institute. The institute gained the status of a university in 1992 and is also the first contemporary university to start a private medical and dental school. It is affiliated to ACU, EUA, CHUC, and Universities UK. The university has academic collaborations with several renowned institutes including GSM London, Highlands College, Weymouth College, Strode College, City of Bristol College, and Exeter College. Notably, the main campus of the university dwells at the center of Plymouth. It includes academic buildings, libraries, laboratories, and student residence halls. The main campus is home to the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Business, Faculty of Science and Engineering, and the Faculty of Health, as well as the University of Plymouth Students’ Union. The North Plymouth campus hosts the School of Medicine, School of Dentistry, and School of Biomedical and Healthcare Sciences. The Roland Levinsky Building, a 9-story structure, houses a public art gallery, digital media suites, and three performance rehearsal studios.
